Friday, June 3, 2016 – 3:00PM
Huntsville Utilities’ CEO, Jay C. Stowe, response to recent inquiries concerning water quality.
As noted in the attached press release from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) http://www.adem.state.al.us/newsEvents/pressreleases/2016/ADEMEPAHealthAdvisory.pdf Huntsville Utilities’ Water Department is NOT listed among the state’s water systems where tests have shown concentrations of Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) or Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) to be at or above the final health advisory level. Tests of Huntsville Utilities’ finished drinking water confirm that PFOA and PFOS are not present.
The tests were performed at the direction of ADEM and in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule 3. In all tests there was no detectable level, or zero levels of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) or Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) present.
