HU Crews Assisting with Hurricane Matthew efforts in South Carolina

Huntsville Utilities’ Electric Department will send two crews to assist in South Carolina with Hurricane Matthew efforts.

HU coordinated with officials organizing assistance today to send our crews to the Conway/Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina. Through the coordination efforts, HU was contacted by officials representing the Santee Cooper Public Service Authority and entered into a mutual-aid agreement today.

HU Crews are expected to arrive in South Carolina on Friday evening and will begin assisting with recovery and restoration on Saturday morning. The HU crews consist of two three-person bucket crews, and one supervisor, for a total of seven crewmen. Based on the weather and recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew, HU Crews will work approximately one week in South Carolina before returning to Huntsville.

Huntsville Utilities is a municipally-owned, not for profit utility serving over 182,000 electric, 94,000 water and 52,000 natural gas customers in Madison County, Alabama.
