The Bank Draft Program at Huntsville Utilities offers two convenient options for you to choose from: Automatic Monthly Bank Draft and One-Time Web/Phone Draft
Option 1: Automatic Monthly Bank Draft
What is it? The amount due on your bill is automatically drafted from your bank account each month. Automatic Monthly Bank Draft offers great benefits:
When are payments drafted?
Bank draft payments are presented for withdrawal one business day prior to your due date. If your due date falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are presented to the bank the prior business day.
What happens when I enroll?
Invoices will be issued and mailed the next business day after your meters are read. The bill will note: “Paid by Bank Draft”
How do I get started?
Log in to My Account to get started.
Option 2: One Time Bank Draft via Website or Automated Phone System
You may initiate a draft at your discretion online by logging into My Account or by automated telephone at 256-535-1200. This option requires that you have your 12-digit Utilities Account Number and PIN number.
You may enroll in the Automatic Bank Draft Program by logging into My Account. This will require you to register as an online user. Once registration is complete, update your current bank information under the Bank Data option. Upon completing the bank information, web/phone draft is immediately available. To activate click “Automatic Monthly Bank Draft” tab and click “Enroll” to activate.
(You will need your account number and pin number)
Via My Utilities Online Account
Once online registration and enrollment are complete, log on to your account through My Account. The View/Pay bill window will open. Enter the amount you would like to pay then select the payment method you want to use and click Continue. Once you have verified the payment information click Pay and you will receive a transaction number.
Via the Automated Phone System: 256-535-1200
Call 256-535-1200 to reach the Automated Phone System. You will need your Huntsville Utilities 12-digit account number and your four digit pin number. (Unless otherwise specified, this is the last four digits of the primary account holder’s social security number). Listen for the prompt to pay by “bank draft” and follow the instructions. An additional option has been added where a customer can add their bank information using the Automated Phone System and then go right into processing the payment. This eliminates the need to enroll prior to using the Automated Phone System to pay by bank draft.

Customers can pay at Speedpay locations throughout Madison County with expanded hours and payments are processed in one business day. Hours and restrictions vary by location. Western Union & Convenience Pay . . . another way we’re providing efficient, reliable service to Huntsville and Madison County.
Availability at these locations are subject to change by Speedpay.
2. Payments may be made at Speedpay locations participating in Convenience Pay. Simply take your Huntsville Utilities bill or provide your account number to the participating Speedpay location. A $1.00 cash convenience fee will be charged for the Convenience Pay service.
If you are subject to cut-off, please do not use this service. Payments will not post to your Huntsville Utilities account until the following business day.

Huntsville Utilities will work with the account holder in an effort to prevent services from being disconnected. In the event a customer’s account becomes past due, and they are not able to pay the balance in full, an installment plan is available. To discuss this option, please call our office at 256-535-1200, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
ANY BILL NOT PAID IN FULL BY THE DUE DATE INCLUDES A LATE PENALTY.
This payment option allows the customer to make a partial payment towards the unpaid balance and divide the remaining amount into one to four monthly installments. The installment amount will be due with the monthly billing for the agreed upon terms. No additional agreement will be available until the customer’s account is paid in full. When a customer signs an Installment Plan, they waive the right to any review concerning the validity of the bill.
If interruption of service occurs, notification in the form of a door hanger is placed at the service location. Instructions are provided in order to address the restoration of service promptly. (Note: Payment in Person and by Speedpay® are the quickest ways to restore service.)
