In order to discontinue service at a residence/business, the owner must complete the discontinue form and return it to Huntsville Utilities. Please allow a minimum of 5 working days to complete this process. A request of this nature will result in the facilities being disconnected and removed or abandoned.
To re-establish service at this location the customer will be required to pay all fees and any non-refundable Aid-To-Construction (ATC) costs associated with obtaining a new service.
In the event of a home or building demolition, Huntsville Utilities requires the owner to fill out the discontinue service forms. Please allow a minimum of 5 working days to complete this process.
Do you want to turn off your meters temporarily?
Are you going on vacation or taking an extended trip? Huntsville Utilities customers may turn off their gas and water meters as well as their electric breaker in order to temporarily stop service.

By cutting off your meter(s) and turning off the main breaker in your home, you will only be charged the standard availability charge. You will not be charged for consumption, if turned off properly.
