Database Administrator - (1) Full-time position in MIS. Manages and administers Oracle Database Management System maintained by Huntsville Utilities. Monitors and manages database backups, restoration, updates and maintains data integrity and system security. Performs database backup, storage and processing capacity planning. Requires current knowledge and experience in Oracle database management and design, multi-platform computer languages, programming and information technology. Point of contact for all business applications, including ERP, EAM, CIS and other Utility programs. Performs database transactions and security audits. Provides documentation and training as required for a diverse user group. BS degree in Computer Science or related field and 6 years experience in application design and development working with Oracle RDBMS required. Experience designing, installing, configuring and administering database servers with at least one year of project management experience required. Must be proficient in Unix/Linux Operating systems. Desire knowledge and experience in SAP software, Basis, Java, Visual Basic and other programming software. Subject to on-call availability. Must be effective in oral and written communications and have the ability to translate technical terminology to non-technical employees.

Electric Meter Shop - (1) Temporary position in the Electric Department checking and cleaning metering equipment, assisting with installation, test, calibration, repair and maintenance of all types of electric metering equipment and programming electric meters, recorders and test equipment. Maintains inventory and maintenance records. Requires high school diploma or GED, knowledge of electrical theory, practice and metering. Needs manual dexterity and ability to perform strenuous outdoor activity. Must be able to distinguish between different colors and shades of color. Subject to on-call and overtime duties as required. Pay: TBD.

Engineer II - (1) Full-time position in the Water Department. Duties will include applying established engineering concepts and principles to design, construct and maintain water transmission and distribution systems. Make load and line studies by analyzing system performance, both present and projected, using load forecasts, load flow studies, conductor and device loading studies. Prepares specification and cost analyses for new equipment and participates in start-up of new equipment and systems. Evaluates bid tabulations, makes purchasing recommendations and inspects special materials. Coordinates work with other departments and outside agencies as necessary and takes initiative to resolve problems. BS degree in civil or mechanical engineering and PE preferred. Four (4) years of progressive responsibility within the utility or related industry. Proficient in the use and development of computer programs for engineering analysis and facilities management. Good written, oral and interpersonal skills. Subject to on-call duty after normal working hours. Must have a valid Alabama driver's license. Pay: $4944.00 mo/minimum

Stock Clerk - (1) Full-time position in the Purchasing Department. Primary duties are to verify material delivered to the dock. Counts and inspects material for damages before signing delivery tickets. Issues proper material to crews and contractors in a timely manner and documents the distribution. Updates the computerized inventory report by location on a weekly basis. Operates equipment necessary for moving material. Assists crews in loading/unloading heavy material. Makes deliveries to job sites as required. Follows procedures to maintain inventory accuracy goal and performs cycle counts. Reports any needed repairs or maintenance on forklifts, cranes and trucks to the Stores Supervisor for service. Follows all EPA regulations regarding PCBs, mercury lamps and computer monitors (lead). Other duties as assigned by Storekeeper and Supervision. High school graduate or equivalent required. Experience in shipping, receiving and inventory control preferred. Forklift, material handling equipment, vehicles, two-way radio, telephone, calculator, and computer skills desired. Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Regular exposure to inclement weather. Subject to emergency recall. $ 11.89 hr/minimum

System Administrator - (1) Full-time position in MIS. Manages in-house Management Information Systems, servers, and related components to assure high availability and security for business applications. Participates in planning and implementing policies and procedures to assure compliance with company goals, industry best practices, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, disaster recovery plans, and regulatory requirements. Works with considerable independence and requires large degree of initiative, judgment and action. Manages end-user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations. Resolves software and hardware problems on all systems. BS degree in Computer Sciences or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Unix/Linux and Windows servers, networks and clusters required. Extensive experience with Unix/Linux application support and TCP/IP protocols, firewall management and database administration required. Must be proficient in MS Office and Operating systems, Unix/Linux Operating systems, Oracle and other SQL databases, SAP software, Basis, Java, Visual Basic and other programming software. Subject to on-call availability. Must be effective communicator, both orally and in writing and have the ability to translate technical terminology to non-technical employees.

Technical Services System Analyst - (1) Full-time position in the Mapping department performing advanced technical work in GIS, mapping applications, customer service, field service, operation crew applications, phone services (IVR), SCADA programs, internet and intranet and other functions related to computer applications and technical services.  Consults with users and other programmers, coordinate and supports all facets of system development, database design, backup, software distribution, documentations, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of separate and distinct applications and training of end users.  A BS degree Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline is required.  A minimum of 2-3 years of application design, programming and development with databases and Visual Basic/Microsoft Windows environment is required.  Experience with Intergraph products, Nortel systems, SCADA or other communications systems, Linux and/or VSE operating systems is desired.  Proficiency in the use of computer programming languages and other information technologies to include HTML, Java, XML.  Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).  Ability to understand and explain technical requirements to non-technical users.  Pay: $4502.00 mo./minimum.

Utility Worker - (2) Full time positions in the Electric Department. Performs a wide variety of un-skilled and semi-skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance sections. Operates various types of small equipment. Keeps vehicles stocked and in an orderly, clean condition. Assists crews in completion of assigned work. Must have a valid driver's license. This position is subject to “on-call” and emergency duty. Salary $11.82/hr.

Welder - (1) Full-time position in the Gas Department. Assists in equipment selection and plan layout; cuts, fabricates and welds all sizes of steel and polyethylene pipe (includes high pressure and x-ray welding) according to layouts, blueprints or work orders. Uses oxyacetylene and electric arc welding techniques; may be required to do TIG welding. Must have knowledge of piping welder's code and know how to do flame cutting and grinding. High school diploma or equivalent and pipefitting experience required. Welding experience on high-pressure steel gas mains preferred. Performs under a variety of field conditions and is subject to emergency and “on call” duty. Must pass Welder Certification Test prior to employment. Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Polyethylene Pipe Welding Certification and CDL required. Pay: $16.37 hr./minimum.
