Huntsville Utilities Assisting With Water Service Restoration in Mississippi

Eight water system employees from Huntsville Utilities are working along the Mississippi Gulf Coast to assist in restoring water service to areas damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The HU crews are working in the Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis and Long Beach area of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, west of Biloxi. This area received some of the most extensive damage from Katrina.

HU crews are working jointly with crews from the City of San Antonio, Texas Water and Sewer Department. They are attempting to restore water service to the area along with capping water services and mains to structures that were destroyed by the storm.

The deployment plans currently are for the HU employees to be in Mississippi for up to three weeks.
