New Record for Summertime Electric Use - Close to a Record for Water Use

At 4:00 p.m. yesterday, the hourly peak demand for electricity reached 1,089 megawatts. Demand represents the amount of electricity flowing into the system at any given moment.
The previous summertime record demand for power by HU customers was 1,074 megawatts set on June 22. The all-time record demand for electricity was established in January of 2003 at 1,144 megawatts.
The Water System came close to a record demand for water on Monday.
70.6 million gallons of water were pumped from the Utilities' water plants and wells, which was just one million gallons short of the record 71.6 pumped on June 22.
