The Huntsville Utilities Electric Department Engineering Services Section will determine the availability of electric service, the costs associated with the provision of electric service and any special requirements which may apply. Such special requirements may include additional facilities, easements, special agreements or contracts, annexation or other items, and any additional forms or contracts will be supplied to the Owner or his representatives by the Electric Engineering Services section.

For any new non-residential construction within the City of Huntsville, the Contractor must acquire a Building Permit. Also, a thirty (30) day Temporary Letter can be obtained by the Contractor for Temporary Electric Release from the Inspection Department. Upon construction completion the Owner or Tenant of the building will need a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) before service becomes permanent.
